Lynn Fee couldn’t imagine letting a fall go by without running their annual pumpkin giveaway.

That’s not necessarily because she has any personal affinity to the winter squash that’s the quintessential sign of fall. But instead, it’s because in a prosperous region known for its bounty of fresh and delicious food, the Niagara realtor can’t accept that people in the area struggle to put meals on their kitchen tables.

“We have a strong belief that no one should go hungry in our thriving community, especially as we go into our cooler months,” said Fee.

Once again, the team will be partnering with Hildreth Farms in Beamsville to run its pumpkin giveaway. From Sept. 16 to Oct. 14, visitors to the Greenlane market can receive a pumpkin with a donation of a non-perishable food item. What’s collected will be distributed evenly between GBF Community Services and Community Care of West Niagara.

Not only does the event act as a way to help the local food banks as they head into winter, but it’s also a way to get the community involved. Fee and her team, regular supporters of local food banks, encourage clients and friends and family to participate as a way to generate some community spirit.

Hildreth Farm Market is located at 5529 Greenlane in Beamsville.
